SOME MEDICAL TERMS YOU SHOULD KNOW
What is Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SHL)?
SHL occurs when there is damage to the inner ear (cochlea) or to the nerve pathways from the inner ear (retrocochlear) to the brain. Sensorineural hearing loss cannot be medically or surgically corrected. It is a permanent loss. Sensorineural hearing loss not only involves a reduction in sound level, or ability to hear faint sounds, but also affects speech understanding, or ability to hear clearly.

Leading Organizations in The hearing health community
Since my sudden hearing loss in 2017, I became familiar with support groups and the organizations listed below. They have become an integral part of my healing journey, and I have become an active member of their communities—initially as a patient seeking answers, and now as a proud ambassador for their initiatives. I invite you to consider contributing in any way you can, helping them grow so they can continue supporting vestibular patients like me (or someone you know) around the world.
