Curing through the Colors of Sound

From XO Espresso Bar…

In this episode, we are featuring Nicolle Cure, a Colombian-American artist living and working in Miami, Florida.

Her latest art series, The Colors of Sound, explores the relationship between sound and life, and how we make sense of our surroundings through what we can hear. This collection, born shortly after Nicolle experienced unilateral sudden hearing loss in 2017, has allowed her to spark an ongoing conversation about changing the views and negative attitudes towards Invisible Dis/Abilities.

As a result, Nicolle became an ambassador for the Hearing Health Foundation, the University of Miami Health System, and Vestibular Disorders Association (VeDA) and continues to help with their advocacy efforts.

Nicolle has recently partnered with Williams Sonoma for a collection of selected prints and originals available in West Elm stores. Nicolle's art has been widely displayed across Florida, during Miami Art Week and Art Basel Miami, as well as internationally, in art fairs in South Korea, China, and Colombia.

Last year, Americans for the Arts, the nation's leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts, awarded Nicolle with a scholarship for her work helping to raise awareness about the invisible disabilities of hearing and balance disorders.
